Professor Stephen Shwiff is the Department Chair for Career & Technical Education Department including Business Administration, Computer Applications and Operating systems and several other disciplines. Professor Shwiff teaches many classes in Business Administration, including Business Ethics, Business Law, and Income Tax, and the US History sequence each term as well Western Civilization I in the summer. Professor Shwiff is also co-chair of the Instruction Council, a member of the Curriculum Committee and President of the CGCC Employee’s Union.
Professor Shwiff has a juris doctor (JD) from Southern Methodist University School of Law. Professor Shwiff also has a Master of Arts in History (concentration in United States History, minor in European History) from the University of Texas in San Antonio and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (concentration in early United States History) from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. In addition, he has a Bachelor of Arts in History, minor in Classics (Greek and Roman) from the University of Texas at Austin.
Professor Shwiff taught at the University of Texas at San Antonio, San Antonio College, Northwest Vista College and St Phillips College in Texas before moving to CGCC in the summer of 2009. He taught a variety of courses, including the History of United States and US History from colonial times until the present. Prior to teaching, Stephen practiced law in Dallas, Texas, handling over a thousand cases including family law, criminal law and various business matters, including dozens of jury trials.
