Websites are so commonplace that it’s uncommon to find a business which doesn’t have one. If your business falls into that category, or if you’d like to improve your existing website, or if you’d just like to create a personal website, Columbia Gorge Community College has the answers.
For the past two academic terms, CGCC has been offering a one-year Web Development Assistant certificate, and we are excited to announce that, pending final approval, beginning next fall students will also be able to earn a Web Design Assistant certificate.

The sixth annual Wind Challenge returns to the Gorge on March 17 at the Fort Dalles Readiness Center in The Dalles. During the Wind Challenge, teams of high school and middle school students from across the Gorge learn about wind turbine technology and design, and apply their skills in an all-day competition to race against the clock in building the strongest, fastest wind turbine.
This event is sponsored by Google and put on as a partnership between Columbia Gorge Community College, the Gorge Technology Alliance and Google. The event also showcases a free, fun STEM Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with dozens of booths of hands-on activities to engage students and the general public. Everyone is welcome!

Students will be able to share a wide variety of unique talents. Also, participants have a chance to win up to $150 in prizes!

Jackson, Mississippi – Phi Theta Kappa will recognize 13 college presidents with Michael Bennett Lifetime Achievement Awards during PTK Catalyst 2018, the Society’s annual convention, in Kansas City, Missouri, April 19-21.
The Bennett Awards honor retiring college presidents who have provided consistently outstanding support to Phi Theta Kappa chapters and advisors throughout their careers. The award is named in honor of the late Dr. Michael Bennett, longtime president of St. Petersburg College in Florida. The 2018 recipients are:

Columbia Gorge Community College was well represented at the 2018 Student Success & Retention Conference, which took place Feb. 1-2 in Portland. Community colleges across Oregon were represented.
Staff from CGCC's Student Services, Advising, Quality Council, Administration, Library Services as well as faculty attended the event, which focused on Inclusion, Innovation, and “Intersectionality,” which explores the relationship between discrimination, disadvantage and the interconnectedness of social groupings.

After conducting a successful search, the East Cascades Workforce Investment Board (ECWIB) in January awarded a provisional contract to Columbia Gorge Community College (CGCC) for the delivery of comprehensive, year-round Adult and Dislocated Worker Services in Hood River, Wasco, Sherman, Gilliam and Wheeler counties.
The Adult and Dislocated Worker Program, under Title I of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998, is designed to provide employment and training services to assist eligible individuals in finding and qualifying for meaningful employment, and to help employers find the skilled workers they need to compete and succeed in business.
