The college's presidential search is going well! We have received 12 applications and the Presidential Search Committee is reviewing them. There are already promising candidates. We are a long way from our Feb. 1 application deadline, so we are optimistic we will receive many more applications.

To get to this stage we employed Preston Pulliams of Gold Hill Associates to advise us on the search and to lead recruiting efforts. We formed a 17-person search committee comprising board of education members, staff, faculty, students, and community representatives. We created an advertisement and advertising brochure (found on our website on the Presidential Search page: go to A-Z Index > Presidential Search). The brochure was carefully designed to sell both the college and the wonderful area in which we are so lucky to live. We think that will draw more applicants and help us compete with larger colleges that can pay larger salaries. In early November, three weeks ahead of target schedule, the advertisement was placed in six major national online search engines that specialize in academic administrative positions.

The current application review stage is the primary responsibility of the search committee. We will review and rank all applications and create a short list of around five to seven candidates. These candidates will be interviewed via Skype by the committee and the Board of Education. Based on these interviews and the applications, the search committee will recommend three finalists at the March Board of Education meeting.

The board will select their three finalists, who will then visit for campus interviews in March. All of you will have an opportunity to meet with the candidates during those visits and provide your assessment of them. We will compile those and provide that information to the board as supporting data for the board's April selection of our next president.

Based on the applications we have received so far we are optimistic we will have the opportunity to hire an energetic, visionary, and experienced leader who can help our college expand its contribution to the community and to build more dreams and transform more student lives.
