Columbia Gorge Community College is partnering with WTWH Media to bring WindTech Oregon 2013 to the Pacific Northwest. The wind industry is an economic force in The Dalles, Oregon region. The Columbia River cuts through the nearby Cascade Mountains, drawing thermals between two distinct climates: the warm, arid east and the cool, damp west. This effect creates ideal conditions for wind energy generation. In response to the need for more wind energy technicians, Columbia Gorge Community College created the first wind energy training program at a community college in the Pacific Northwest. Participants will have the opportunity to use the college's resources, work hands-on with new equipment and hear from leaders in the industry.
WindTech was created to offer wind technicians the opportunity to network, learn hands-on techniques and engage with the latest operations and maintenance technology presented directly from leading vendors in the market. WindTech provides O&M service providers an annual solution to the re-certification cycle by offering free certifications and recertifications in CPR, first aid, AED, bloodborne pathogens, Hytorc basic operations and safety training, and Sika blade repair. More certifications are being added to the conference agenda.
This FREE event is appropriate for site supervisors, wind technicians, and students and alumni of CGCC's Renewable Energy Technology program.
