Limited Entry Admissions
Medical Assistants work in physician’s offices and other medical offices under the supervision of licensed physicians. Columbia Gorge Community College's (CGCC) Medical Assiting program combines lectures and labs in the college environment, as well as practical, hands-on learning in regional medical offices.
Qualified nurses at both the LPN and RN levels are in high demand in Oregon and across the nation. CGCC’s program allows students to choose to complete the first year and apply for their LPN certification, and then continue to the second year to apply for licensure as an RN or seek immediate employment in the health care field.
CGCC’s Limited-Entry RET program is a career ladder program offering a 9-month (three terms) Certificate and an Associate of Applied Science degree. CGCC is one of the first three colleges in the nation to receive the American Wind Energy Association’s (AWEA) Seal of Approval for wind technician training programs.
The RET program prepares students for employment in a wide range of industries, including wind-generation, hydro-generation, automated manufacturing, and engineering technicians. Information related to other renewable energies is also included.
Beginning fall term 2016, the RET program will no longer be a limited-entry program. The following will be new in 2016-17:
- All RET/EET courses will be open to any student who meets the prerequisites for the course.
- Students will no longer be required to complete a separate admissions application in order to place into the program.
