Getting Started

Columbia Gorge Community College welcomes students 18 years of age and older who can benefit from the variety of instructional programs offered. The courses and programs are designed to meet adults' personal needs and career goals.

If you are 16 or 17 years of age and have not graduated from high school, you may take an evening or summer class by meeting prerequisite skills or requirements. You may enroll for other courses if the courses are part of a cooperative program between your high school and the College, or if your high school issues a release form allowing you to be admitted to Columbia Gorge Community College.

If you are a new student, we require that you take ASSET, the college placement test. This free assessment is used to determine your skill levels in reading, writing, and mathematics. We use the results to direct you into the most appropriate courses. Under certain circumstances this requirement will be waived. Examples are if you have recent previous college work or if you are taking only one or two courses that do not require a level of proficiency in math, writing, or reading.

New students are encouraged to start the admissions process well in advance of registration.
