Financial Aid

Student Services in The Dalles and Hood River will be closed Thursday, September 2nd for staff training.

Various financial aid resources may be available to you as a CGCC student. Stop by our Financial Aid office in Student Services and inquire about eligibility requirements, available amounts, and other special information about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the CGCC Foundation Scholarships, and possible assorted outside scholarships.

Financial aid reminder – If you will be attending Columbia Gorge Community College during 2009-10, remember to file a FAFSA as soon as possible. You will need either estimated or actual 2008 tax year information. Worksheets to help you gather this information are available in Student Services at The Dalles Campus or the Hood River-Indian Creek campus or online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. If you filed a FAFSA for 2008-09, you may be able to use the renewal FAFSA online for next year.

Applying online is fast and easy. Columbia Gorge Community College is affiliated for accreditation purposes with Portland Community College, so you will use the federal school code for PCC (003213) to receive financial aid at CGCC. You will also need a PIN from the US Department of Education to “sign” your application. If you need to provide parent information, the parent who will sign your application will also need a PIN. Apply for the PIN at www.PIN.ed.gov. However, not everyone wants to apply for their PIN at the time they file the FAFSA; you have the option of printing out the signature page and signing it along with your parent and mailing it to the government. The government will then mail you (and your parent) a PIN for your later use.

CGCC Foundation Scholarships

The CGCC Foundation offers scholarships 4 times a year to students enrolled at CGCC. A full-year tuition assistance scholarship is available each fall as well as term scholarships for winter, spring and summer terms. The scholarship is in the form of tuition assistance and depends on the student’s academic performance in the prior term. One prerequisite is that the student must have already filed a FAFSA. Check the quarterly class schedule for application availability dates for these scholarships.
