Meets the criteria for a 3 and goes beyond, for example:
Events included beyond requirements demonstrate a deep understanding of the time period.
Includes explanations of events and their interrelationships.
(3) Three
Provides accurate information with correct sequencing.
Some connections between events are shown.
All required items appear on timeline and together provide a clear understanding of the time period.
(2) Two
Information is not completely accurate or correctly sequenced.
Few, if any, connections between events are shown.
Missing some required items which leads to only a partial understanding of the time period.
(1) One
Information is missing, inaccurate or incorrectly sequenced.
Events appear as totally unconnected happenings.
This timeline does not help viewer understand the time period.

Creative use of space and design enhances meaning and enables viewer to easily make connections between events.
Layout is so carefully planned and completed that timeline could serve as a model.

Use of space and design enhances meaning.
Layout promotes readability.
(2) Two
Timeline is difficult to read due to poor design and layout.
Layout might be so complicated, poorly explained or confusing that viewer struggles to gather meaning and make connections.

Timeline appears as a jumbled mess.
Due to poor layout, viewer can gather little or no meaning.
