Empanadas Borrachas

Teresa Rodriguez

4 cups of flour
2 cups of sugar
2 cups of jelly
2 cups of lard
1 beer

First mix the flour with lard.
Add beer and then knead the dough.
After, roll it out.
Then cut circles.
Put in each circle jelly and fold.
Next put in the oven at 350° F.
When ready, take out of the oven.
Finally, cover with the sugar.
Let cool, eat.

This recipe came from Mexico. My neighbor taught it to me. I learned it when I was sixteen years old and lived in Durango. This recipe is very delicious. You can’t eat just one.
