Oceanography GS-108
Distant Learning Video Course

4 credits.


The purpose of this course is to develop an understanding of the chemical, physical and geological nature and processes of the earth's oceans. Also students will enjoy an introduction to the plants and animals (including mammals and birds) of the Ocean ecosystem.

 

Text book and video learning assignments, student journal, and two exams fulfill the lecture portion. A fun and informative two day Oregon Coast Field Trip satisfies the course lab requirements. Record your observations in a field journal as you study estuaries,walk the cape trail, observe tide pool creatures at low tide and collect fossils on a special beach and many other interesting things.

This course may be included as a part of a three quarter sequence in General Science: Physical Science for college transfer degree credit.
