English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Faculty
|Jane has been teaching in the ESOL department since 1987. She has a language background in Spanish plus thirteen years of experience working with people with disabilities as a certified rehabilitation counselor. She enjoys teaching integrated skills classes to students of all levels. In the 1990s, she helped students access the internet when computers became more available on campus. In addition, she is a life long supporter of libraries. In 1993, she produced an instructional video called "Using the Library: Introducing Public Library Services to English as a Second Language Students," an instructional video in English, Spanish, and Japanese, with an activity workbook and teacher's resource guide. Her thesis topic at Portland State University was "The Effect of Pleasure Reading on Second Language Acquisition."
